Welcome to MARS Software (Matthew A. Roberts Software), where we make software that we also use. Everything you find here is home-grown (unless otherwise noted) and borne of a genuine need.

For example, I created marsStation, the CMS that powers this site, because other options were simply too much. I like a lot of flexibility is my tools, but in trying to satisfy everyone, for me, they end up satisfying no one. I'm developing.

marsDevTools came from a need for the usual tools during development, but that fit my workflow of where I expect things to be and what things I expect to happen. Hopefully, my mindset and way of thinking may aide others.

My biggest project now is marsRocketWords, admittedly not a tool, but rather a word game I've been thinking about for nearly four years. I had never put enough time into learning Android game development with a lot of graphics and complex interactions, but these days, AI can help you get it done with ease.

So, a key aspect of the software available here is that all of it has been developed by or with AI (unless otherwise noted), specifically Claude Code. A covid-related brain injury several years ago stole my ability to understand and write code as I had done for thirty years before- I call it "code dyslexia" because it does look a bit jumbled up). But, it didn't take my arhitectural and broad-overview skills to create new, compelling projects and direct the development by agents who always write clean, modular, extensible code with comments, tests, and an API endpoint, all in about 5 minutes.
